Good Things Come in Small Packages: Summer 2016 in Manhattan, IL

Good Things Come in Small Packages:

Summer 2016 in Manhattan, IL

It's been said that "good things come in small packages" ... and that saying definitely applies to small communities ...

The Village of Manhattan, IL is a good example of this being true.  First incorporated in 1886, the U. S. census shows Manhattan's current population to be approximately 7100 people.

Don't let this Village's size fool you. This community may be small, but it's mighty.

Manhattan is active and vibrant. You don't have to look beyond a long list of upcoming community events being hosted in the Village this summer to see why I say that.  Consider the activities/events hosted within Manhattan just over the last couple of weeks too.

The Manhattan Park District  just hosted its immensely popular annual Civil War Days at the historic Baker/Koren Round Barn Farm Park.

And the Township of Manhattan, partnering with the Village, just hosted an Electronic Recycling for the benefit of its residents last Saturday.  Held in the heart of the downtown, electronic items of all kinds were accepted for recycling.   This recycling event was a great benefit to the locals.

So what can you look forward to during the upcoming summer months in Manhattan if you live in the Village or visit there?

Here is just a few examples of great things happening within this community:

The Village's open-air market ... the "Railroad Farmer's Market" ... returned on June 4th and will continue running each Saturday through October 8th (Closed Labor Day Weekend, September 3rd).

As you can see, small doesn't mean boring when you're talking life within the Village of Manhattan, IL or is choosing to visit.  I'm proud to call Manhattan my hometown.

I hope you take an opportunity to visit this beautiful Will County village sometime in the very near future.  And if considering the purchase of a new home, please consider homes for sale within the Village of Manhattan, or the surrounding area ...

Hi Gene - Small communities are wonderful places to live, especially when they provide such an event-filled calendar for their residents. It looks like a great summer in Manhattan.

Gene I love the sound of small town living!  And WOW there is a lot going on too! You can walk down the street or go to the mall and most likely run into somebody you know. I like that!
