Spring Clean-Up Days in Lincoln-Way Area Villages Announced!

     Springtime finds many of our local villages hosting Spring Clean-Up Days within its boundaries. 

     Three of the Villages that make up what is commonly known as the Lincoln-Way Area in Will County, IL have announced the dates for their annual cleawork glovesn-up events.

     New Lenox offers an extra recycling service along with their annual spring-cleaning service pick-up.  This years clean-up event will be held on May 1st between the hours of 6 am to 12 Noon.  The special refuse collection day is sponsored by the New Lenox Township and Nu Way Disposal Company.  All items needing to be pickedgarbage truck-up need to be at curbside by no later than 6 am that day. 

    

     Old appliances and small construction materials (placed in containers) are some of the unordinary items that can be placed curbside.  Hazardous materials of any kind (insecticides, used motor oils, paints and thinners, larger auto parts, broken concrete, landscaping wastes) will NOT be taken. 

    

     Used motor oils and household paints will be collected at the New Lenox Township Office location, 1100 So. Cedar Road between the hours of 9 am to 1 pm on that day only.  Proof of New Lenox Township residency is required for drop-off of these items.  For further info call: 815.485.6431.

     My hometown, The Village of Manhattan, will aid its residents in cleaning and sprucing up their properties by assisting in disposal of used, abused, and no-longer-needed items on two days this year ... May 15th and 16th.  No specific hours or times are mentioned for drop-off, as the dumpsters will be available 24 hours a day, each day.teens at garbage pick-up

     Dumpsters will be placed adjacent to the Fire Department Station #1, located at 100 Park Road next to the Village Park near downtown Manhattan.  All additional garbage will be accepted and handled there.      

     Items such as used motor oils, old tires, electronic equipments/components, and hazardous wastes will NOT be accepted by the Village or allowed to be placed in the dumpsters.

     If you have questions regarding an item you wish to drop-off, please call the Village of Manhattan office at 815.418.2100 prior to the clean-up days.

     Saturday, April 17th is Spring Clean-Up Day in the Village of Mokena.  Volunteer teams, led by the Mayor, Village Administrator, Village Board Trustees, and Village employees, spread through-out the village and tackle garbage and clean-up wherever found.  Young and old are welcome to participate.  Many times enboytire families take part in this annual event.

    

     If you are wishing to volunteer towards this effort, please arrive at the Village Hall, located at 11004 Carpenter Street, prior to the 9 am start.  Please bring sturdy work gloves with you.  Teams will work until 12 Noon.

     This years spring clean-up is sponsored by the Village of Mokena along with the Community Affairs Commission and sponsored by over a dozen local Mokena businesses.  Call the Village Office at 708.479.3900 for further information.

    

     A complimentary lunch will be provided back at the Village Hall after work is done.  It will consist of grilled hot dogs, chips and pop.  All workers are encouraged to stay and enjoy the fruits of their labor and to get to know their Village representatives better.
